TOI and Deepika story

Background:
And this is how TOI justifies. and Here goes my opinion about it.

Here is a story.

A prostitute, complains that she's been raped! and its traumatizing her.
Officer says - Well thats what you do! daily. How could you complain of it?

I'm not trying to draw parallels here.

But today's TOI article brings up this very question; Soiety is stereotypical!! But to what extent will it hold on to the shameful behaviour!

1: TOI says She's been voluntarily exposing

Dear TOI, Deepika may have been exposing her assets. Well thats her will.
and your perspective story doesnt justify the shit you published(continuing to do so).

2: TOI says, It's just a perspective

A politician said something in his own perspective.
How do you react as media? Do you care abt his perspective?

Nope!

You bring 4 likely nod heads and scream out together!

Hypocricy??

3:

TOI says, deepika used it as publicity stunt.

Dear moronic author of this shameful article,
She's an actress and shall release a movie every 6 months or so. Does it take away her chance to scream at shit ppl just because someone would think of it as publicity stunt??!!

Hypocricy again?

You make a mistake.. Just LET go!!

Rush to tackle paid media - Journalism dies in stampede

Anyone who is following twitter  or facebook these days must have got this feeling at least once.

Don’t you think Social Media is a bit right wing?? I would say it’s a lot right wing.

A lot of times media houses are accused "Fake”, “Paid Media" for not being biased towards right wing,
This is definitely not a good sign.

Although I agree that there is a need to tackle this paid media houses and fake journalists.
That definitely does not approve of people taking journalism to the other extreme end.
It can be catastrophic.

From what I see, the speed at which citizen journalism is being carried. Usage of "Carried away" term means something.

Some time back Manish Tiwari in one of his interviews was mentioning about the need to have an institution to manage this new journalism theory.
I to some extent agree with him.

Twitter has provided a platform to reach out millions. But most ppl ignore the fact that it comes with a responsibility.

It’s not a petty fight in your neighborhood.
You are reaching out to millions. So watch your words.

Ever heard of Butterfly effect?
Time is not far where in we can watch this butterfly effect in working.

Happy tweeting friends.

Watch your words.

KSRTC, FDI and Multiplex

Wait! Are these even remotely related?  I don’t think so; you must be thinking right now.
I present you a collage of current affairs which unfortunately correlate all the three and more.

Multiplex

Recently released Hindi movie “Ek Tha Tiger” was in news for a strange reason.
It read “Ek Tha Tiger raises anticipation and sadly prices. Tickets may cost 80% more!”

It’s evident that if you like Salman or Katrina or both!! You would have to pay 500 – 800 per ticket!
Have you ever wondered what happened to those theaters where you could watch a movie for 200 – 300 rupees?

Those are shut down long back!! At least most of them.
Why do you think those theaters went bankrupt?

Multiplex Monopoly!

Those small theaters could not face competition from these high capital investors!
And what did government do to save those theaters?

Nothing!

And this brings up one more question. Is there any governing body at all to authorize the prices in multiplex?

KSRTC BMTC

Recently KSRTC and BMTC went on a protest which uprooted the transportation system in Karnataka.
People still had to go to office, had to visit hometowns.
Most of them took leaves, most of them cancelled plans and the rest dusted off their own vehicles.

A transport service provider goes on a protest and system stops? What made it happen?

Again Monopoly!

Karnataka is so dependent on KSRTC – BMTC that even in the case of increased cost or protest.
Unfortunately you are left with no option but to abide.

FDI

In a rather bizarre move to help economy (they say) cabinet has approved Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in Indian retail market.

This would allow foreign MNCs like Wal-Mart, Tesco etc to invest in the retail market of India.
“Indian retail market” when I asked Google about it I was rather surprised and happy to learn about its contribution to India’s growth.

Here are some pieces of it.

Indian retail market is divided into organized and unorganized sectors.

Big bazaar and Reliance markets fall in the category of organized markets, employ about 1 million people.

Whereas local shops, general stores are categorized as unorganized markets, employ about 70 – 80 million people and contributes about 40% to nation’s GDP.
Why is there so much fuss about Indian retail market, why are Tesco, Wal-Mart and other MNCs so eager to enter India?

According to a recent study, Indian retail market has a potential of about $300 billion per year.
 Yes, that answers almost everything.

An MNC like Wal-Mart whose average turnover is about $250+ billion, if given an opportunity to enter India.

It would set up its shops in about 50 – 60 cities of India and would sell almost everything(There is  joke about an US president and Wal-Mart, where president asked for an elephant and retailer asked whether president would see a white elephant or black!)
Nevertheless, initially let’s say X-mart’s strategy is to concentrate on billions of turnover, improving customer base and not the profit.

Yes, X-mart can manage to survive about a year or so without any profit.

Now X-mart starts selling everything at significantly reduced price compared to market.
X-mart will buy goods from farmers at a very good price.

Farmers happy :) X-mart happy :)Small retailers - not happy :(
They are not able to pay the farmers huge price and hence are not able to acquire the goods.
Since X-mart is now selling almost everything at low cost, customer doesn’t bother to visit local stores since he can get the same in X-mart for very less price.

Customer happy :) X-mart happy :) small retailers – not happy :(
A lot of foreign investment flowing into India, and Indian economy is growing.

Government happy :) X-mart happy :) People employed in Indian retail – not happy :(
After a year or so…..
Due to lack of goods availability and minimal customer base, most of the small retail shoppers have gone bankrupt and have closed the business.

Now there are about 30 million unemployed people perplexed what to do.

Unemployed not happy :( Government not happy :( X-mart still happy :)
Since there are no other buyers for their goods, farmers solely depend on X-mart for business.
Now X-mart offers only half the value.
With no other go, farmers agree.

Farmers sad :( Government sad :( X-mart still happy :)
As part of strategy cost in X-mart increases rapidly!
Consumer is confused! But with no other option left! Might reduce the quantity but still has to buy!

Customer sad :( Government sad :( X-mart still happy :)
On face book I said - Dependency is directly proportional to drama :)
Now X-mart has its own way of handling government!
Things so screwed up!

Government sad :( Everything Everyone sad :( X-mart still happy :)

And by the way X-mart turnover now is $500 billion per year.

MONOPOLY!

Take a look around, and you will be surrounded by monopoly in one form or other.
And wherever monopoly is present – everything else goes for a toss!

Monopoly of cricketother sports at loss.
Monopoly fight of Apple – AndroidCustomer at loss.
Monopoly of corrupt electionsIndia at loss.
Monopoly of biased mediaAam admi at loss.
Monopoly of multiplexMovie fans at loss.
Monopoly of KSRTCcustomer at loss.

In near future…

Monopoly of foreign MNC in retail marketEveryone at loss.

I don’t turnoff the engine in traffic signal!!

I was watching this advertisement in which a kid advices his dad to kill the car engine in traffic signals. And dad obeys J So Sweet!

Sweet my ass I said as I got up in disgust!
I almost never kill the engine in traffic signals! Believe me I want to! But I can’t!
Read on….
It so happens that, when traffic signal turns red!
Vehicles are at a very random position with almost 5 – 6 feet distance between each of them.
I feel; let me turn off the engine now!

And I turn off the engine!

Now all the cars start moving inch by inch to close the gap of feet between them!
Looking at the gap drivers behind me honk so loud all at a time and give me “I will kill you look!”
Shit! Not again. I start the bike and move another foot or two.
Signal is still red; I think let me turn off the engine and save the world!

And I turn off the engine!

But right then, bikers start squeezing in between the cars!!
Lane driving!! What the hell is it??
Again a big gap in front of me!! And hell breaks out!! Now the honking is more violent if I should describe it like that J
Shit man! I start my bike and move another feet.
Signal is still red; OK let me kill the engine!

And I turn off the engine!

And signal turns green!!!

Screw all of you!! I’m never turning down the engine again!
This is my experience in most of the traffic signals J
I bet you guys must have experienced it J haven’t you.

Any suggestions how this could be solved or avoided?

                                                                             - Supreeth

P.S: This article is written keeping in mind those bikers with kick start only!
And for all of you thinking. Why doesn’t this guy travel by bus? I am now J

Your earphones could KILL you!!

Being bored?! Better than being dead!

Music is not so sweet is it now? Is it?
I had to ask my pal who met with a road mishap last week!

F*** man!! It wasn’t my mistake he said. The car guy tried to overtake me from the wrong side for god sake!!

I said, you had plugged in your headphones right??
I knew he could not argue with that…

Although my friend escaped with bit of luck, it made me think why are people so irresponsible??
Why is it necessary for the system to come up with a law to state something so obvious!

Just take a look around you when you are on road, you will be surrounded with idiots on bikes with headphones on!
And yes.., they are well educated!

I agree there is a rule about not using mobile phones while driving, but my question is.
   1. Is the driver less prone to accidents if he does the same thing over headphones?
·         2. Full volume music from the headset; is it not taking away his concentration?
·         3. If he is not able to hear to horns, sirens. Doesn’t it make his bike a death machine?

Is there any law about it? In India? Abroad?

When I asked Google about it, I was pleased to know that there are some countries which consider this issue seriously.

Not all the states but Massachusetts and Rhode Island in US forbid wearing headphones of any kind while operating a motor vehicle and a hefty $85 for first time offence.
New York and California authorize the use of headphones while driving provided they are used in one ear only.

Some parts of Canada forbid headphones and what I understand from some discussion thread is that France has similar kind of rule. Surprisingly I did not find anything about it in Britain!!

I read in a forum that if you are met with an accident and your are found to be wearing headphones, your insurance stands null or void.

I am sure you too are probing to know, though unlikely does India have any rule about usage of earphones?

I was very upset to know that there wasn’t even a single discussion thread about it, let alone the rule book. Nevertheless what I gathered from the discussion with few friends is that, there might not be rule as such.

I wonder when talking on phone or texting while driving can be an offence why not this? Just because someone is not dead because of headphones, does it make it ignorable?
I would suggest all my dear ones to give it a thought. And may be educate people about it.
Ø  Please do not use headphones while riding bikes.
Ø  If you cannot avoid it, at least use one ear.
Ø  Spread the message.
Ø  Drive safe!

                                                                                               -          Supreeth

P.S: When I gave this piece of writing to my friend to review. He right away said. Does it mean deaf people are not eligible for a driving license?
Hmm.., I will have to think!
